PM - Board Development / Executive Coaching
Why is Executive Coaching Necessary?

Board and Executive leaders today face unprecedented challenges.

They face tough decision-making and a need for effective problem solving in a world where there is increasing globalisation, intense competition and accelerating technology as well as a sharp focus on customer relationships. Furthermore, more than ever before they face greater accountability to financial markets and are subject to higher performance expectations from the Board and/or Shareholders as well as employees.

Decisions made by senior executives are crucial in shaping the future prosperity of the business in which they operate. Therefore within this context it is essential that Leaders both meet these demands and overcome their own blockages to exceptional performance. Professional Coaching helps improve individual and collective performance by accessing and enhancing inherent, yet often under-utilised personal skills and abilities as well as developing areas or potential blockages to exceptional performance..

Furthermore there is significant research as well as support from our own work that coaching yields a significant return on investment. Research has shown a 529% return and this has been echoed by our clients with comments such as:

  • "The coaching has not only developed my Leadership skills for a place on the Board, it has enabled me to double our profit margin" - Sales Director, Financial Services.
  • "From an external inspection, we received an ‘outstanding’ for leadership, whereas I contributed to the latter judgement, your coaching contributed to me being a better Leader" - Principal, Leading UK College of FE/HE.
  • "My manager is really pleased with my results – I am almost 200% of target and I have a lot of work in the pipeline. The coaching is helping me keep focussed" - Account Manager, Financial Services.
  • "Your coaching helped me with all aspects making me more confident as a manager and in professional relationships, which has resulted in me being promoted" - Director, Public Sector.

How We Work

Our approach to the coaching programme is typically driven by the coaching goals. In certain cases clients will opt for a flexible programme, where we work with live issues as they arise. We offer clients time to think which enables them to both problem solve and make decisions on current issues as well as develop a strategic way of thinking. The majority of clients choose to work within a coaching framework which is illustrated below. It is action and results oriented and thus focuses on demonstrable improvements in performance.

Our experience tells us that a 6 month coaching programme will generate a positive change in leadership behaviour which can become further embedded over a further 12 months.

Below is an example of a 6-month programme with a 5 stage coaching approach:
